NEW HAVEN, CONN. – The University of Pennsylvania women's squash team suffered a consolation semifinal defeat to #8 Columbia, falling 5-4. The Quakers will now play tomorrow for the opportunity to finish seventh at best.
The Lions were able to jump ahead early, but the Quakers battled the entire match. After falling down 0-2, the Quakers recovered with a big win by
Amina Abou El Enin, who tallied the first match win of the tournament 3-1.
Following a loss,
Julia Buchholz delivered a clutch four-game victory, cutting the deficit to 3-2.
Lindsay Stanley was able to record a big five-game winner, but the Lions had enough to win the match, as
Jessica Davis fell in three games.
The freshman has a strong day, winning two of the four Quakers matches, in a theme consistent with the entire season.
Navmi Sharma sealed a late win after the match was secured but continues to excel in her first Howe Cup exposure.
