NEW HAVEN, CONN. – The University of Pennsylvania women's squash team suffered a Howe Cup quarterfinal defeat, falling 9-0 to #4 Trinity on Friday afternoon. The loss means the Quakers can finish no higher than fifth.
The Quakers delivered a promising start, with
Navmi Sharma and
Lindsay Stanley delivering opening game victories. However, the Quakers couldn't maintain the momentum as the Bantams earned their first point against captain
Jessica Davis and didn't look back.
Sharma and
Jamila Abou El Enin delivered the strongest efforts, with both matches going the distance. El Enin held a 2-0 lead but couldn't hang on, while Sharma battled back from a 1-2 deficit to give herself an opportunity.
The Quakers will now look to record their highest finish at the Howe Cup since 2016-17, when they finished second. A win in the next round would secure at least sixth place.
