PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's squash team (5-4, 1-2) dropped a close 6-3 decision at the hands of #2 Princeton (7-1, 2-1) on Saturday evening. The loss marks the second straight to the #2 team in the country, after falling at former #2 Trinity last week.
The Quakers went toe-to-toe with the Tigers for much of the evening, not giving them anything easy. While the Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead, the biggest names for the Quakers were still to come and did not disappoint when the pressure mounted.
Captains
Jessica Davis and
Julia Buchholz turned in clutch victories, winning in five and four games respectively to keep the Red and Blue in it. Freshman
Amina Abou El Enin continued her winning ways, breezing through her opponent 3-0 and giving the Quakers a chance. However, a late comeback bid by
Nicole Windreich fell short and the Tigers secured the fifth point with two matches to spare.
