PHILADELPHIA – Five athletes from the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team combined to earn six spots on the All-ECAC teams, the conference office announced on Monday. Additionally, 11 were named to the ECAC All-Academic Team.
The top twelve gymnasts in their event are recognized as All-ECAC first team or second team. The teams are based off of the Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) that the gymnasts accumulated leading up to last month's ECAC Championship.
Caroline Moore and Natalie Yang both earned first-team All-ECAC honors on beam, Allison Frommer garnered first-team distinction on bars, while Jordyn Mannino was named to the second-team on bars and Sydney Kraez landed on the vault and floor second-teams.
Moore and Yang spearheaded a terrific beam lineup this season for the Quakers. Yang, a freshman, was named ECAC Specialist of the Week on March 5, posted a score of at least 9.700 in all 12 meets and posted a career-high 9.875 at Lindenwood to match the fourth-best score in program history. Moore matched Yang's high score of 9.875 and racked up seven scores of at least 9.800 during her senior season. She was also crowned Ivy Classic beam champion with a 9.875 to earn first-team All-ECAC honors on beam for the second consecutive season.
Frommer consistently paced Penn on bars, earning at least a 9.700 in nine of her 11 routines. The 2019 ECAC bars champion won the title with a career-high 9.825 and also earned a victory at Maryland (March 10) with the same score.
Kraez, another freshman, landed on the second team on both vault and floor after an impressive rookie campaign. She earned the best score of the season on floor with a career-high 9.875 at Lindenwood, tied for the fourth-best all-time, and on vault with a 9.825 at Yale. Kraez picked up five individual titles, winning at Yale, the Rumble & Tumble and at SEMO on vault and at the Pink Meet and Lindenwood on floor.
Mannino earned second-team recognition on bars after a quality sophomore season that included a career-high 9.850 at the Pink Meet, tied for the fifth-best score in program history, a victory at SEMO and runner-up finishes at the Teal Meet and Pink Meet. Twice Mannino was honored with weekly ECAC awards, earning Specialist of the Week on Feb. 5 and the Coaches Choice Award on Jan. 23.
In order to be eligible for the all-academic team, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher. Penn's honorees are listed below:
