*Having started all 33 of Penn's games this season, Sean Phelan now has 160 career appearances for the Quakers. It is the second-most career appearances by a Penn player and he is one game shy of the program record set by Dan Williams.

*Eduardo Malinowski had a solid weekend at the plate, going 6-for-10 with three RBI and four runs scored over the three-game series.

*Grant Guillory continued to give opposing hitters a tough time, tossing 1.2 innings with no hits or runs surrendered in game one of the twin bill. After 20.0 innings pitched this season, the senior is holding batters to a .157 average.

*Despite a tough offensive outing, the Quakers are still batting a collective .337 on the season, with seven of the nine starters this weekend batting above .300.

*In game two, the Quakers were shut out for the first time this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME 1
Yale jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first as a two-RBI single gave the visitors a two-run advantage. Penn would halve the deficit after an RBI double from Josh Hood plated Malinowski in the bottom of the second.

Yale would extend its lead, however. In the top of the third, the Bulldogs plated their third run of the day with an RBI single and scored a fourth later in the inning after a player stole home with the Quakers trying to throw out a runner stealing second with two outs.

The Quakers cut Yale's lead to one in the fourth. Matt McGeagh plated Peter Matt with a sac fly to right, then Tommy Courtney made it 4-3 with an RBI single past the second baseman. The Bulldogs struck back in the fifth as an RBI double made it 5-3.

Despite the setbacks, Penn kept fighting. After Matt lead off with a four-pitch walk in the sixth, Hood tied the game as he knocked a two-run bomb down the left field line and fair to make it 5-5.

A two-run single by the Bulldogs in the top of the seventh created separation again, but the Quakers once again showed their resilience by tying it in the bottom of the frame. With runners on second and third, Malinowski hit a sac fly to left to score Phelan. The left fielder's throw to third sailed into the dugout, allowing Craig Larsen to score, tying the game at 7-7.

However, Yale would once again respond with a pair of runs. In the top of the eighth, an RBI double and an RBI single made it 9-7, and this time the Quakers could not field a response.

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME 2
Once again, Yale took an early lead. With the bases loaded and no outs, the Bulldogs plated one on a fielder's choice. The visitors added two more in the sixth after a single up the middle gave Yale a 3-0 lead.

Yale continued to extend its lead as the game wore on. With two outs and a man on second, the Bulldogs made it 4-0 with a single into left field. The Bulldogs doubled their lead in the top of the ninth, as a solo homer, error, wild pitch, and sac fly made it 8-0.

Penn's bats struggled to get anything going throughout the game, in large part due to strong play by Yale's infield. The Quakers were able to get a runner on base seven times, and those runners were not able to advance past second.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Red and Blue close out a four-game homestand as Penn hosts Seton Hall for a nonconference matchup this Wednesday at 3 p.m.
