PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania baseball team won its series against Brown but could not get it done in game three as the Bears took down the Quakers, 14-7.
Brown took the lead with five runs in the first inning and, despite the Quakers fighting back to tie it twice, responded each time to avoid a sweep.

NOTES
*The Quakers tallied more than ten hits in a game for the 15th time this season and the third-consecutive game.
*Penn knocked 58 hits in its series with Brown, its most hits in a series since smacking 53 against Columbia in 2009.

Craig Larsen's hit streak ended today. The freshman went 14 games with a hit, dating back to Penn's March 9 matchup with Winthrop.

Andrew Hernandez continued to dominate at the plate, slotting in at DH for Penn. He went 3-for-5 on the day with two RBI and one run scored. Over the three-game series with Brown, the freshman went 9-for-16 with four runs scored, seven RBI, two doubles, a home run, all while striking out just once.

Kevin Eaise made his sixth appearance of the season today, coming in as relief in the second inning. The freshman threw 5.1 frames with four strikeouts and three runs allowed on five hits. He leads Penn pitchers with five or more appearances with a 2.66 ERA.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears jumped out to an early lead, scoring five runs off two hits in the first inning. Penn clawed back to within two after an RBI single from
Matt O'Neill and a pair of runs courtesy of a single from Hernandez made it 5-3.
Penn made it a one-run game in the second inning after a double steal plated
Kyle Cronk, then a
Peter Matt RBI single tied the game at five runs each.
Brown regained the lead in the fifth inning as a two-run homer made it 7-5, but Penn evened it at seven in the bottom of a frame after a two-RBI single from Cronk.
The Bears clawed back again with four runs in the seventh inning from a two-RBI double and a two-run home run made it 11-7, then added on three more runs in the bottom of the ninth to gain a seven-run lead.

Penn welcomes Big 5 rivals Saint Joseph's to Meiklejohn Stadium tomorrow for a midweek matchup with the Hawks starting at 3 p.m.
