HOW IT HAPPENED
Penn took an early lead after Hood hit an RBI single to left, plating Matt. Harvard went in front in the third after a two-RBI double to left field.
The Quakers regained the lead in the fourth. Hood got on base with a walk, then Malinowski hit his second home run of the season, a bomb over the left field wall, to put Penn in front, 3-2. The Quakers tacked on another run as McGeagh scored on an error by the catcher.
Harvard tied it up in the fifth with a two-run home run in the fifth. The Crimson took the lead in the eighth with a two-out grand slam. Penn pulled two back in the bottom of the frame after an RBI double by Larsen and an RBI single by Phelan.
Harvard went three up, three down in the top of the ninth. Penn started the bottom of the ninth with a leadoff single by Petersen and a picture-perfect bunt by Malinowski to put runners on first and second with no outs. A strikeout and a Harvard double play following Malinowski's bunt ended the chance of a comeback by Penn.
