*The Quakers hit two home runs in a game for the first time since Malinowski hit two against Cornell on April 22, 2018.

*Craig Larsen hit a grand slam in the top of the first inning. It is his first career grand slam and second career home run. It is the first grand slam hit by a Penn player since Matt O'Neill got a bases-loaded homer against Fairleigh Dickinson on March 18, 2018, and the first time a Penn player has hit home runs in consecutive games since O'Neill in 2018.

*Sean Phelan hit his first home run of the season, a three-run shot to right center.

*Miller pitched 3.1 innings of scoreless relief and fanned a season/career best seven batters, while surrendering just one hit.

*The Quakers have scored 10+ runs in three of their last four games and have outscored opponents 46-16 in those games.

*Larsen has seven RBIs on four hits in his last two games.

*Eduardo Malinowski is the second Penn player to register five hits in a game this season, with Josh Hood tallying that mark in Penn's win over Winthrop on March 10. The reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Year went 5-6 at the plate and was just a home run shy of the cycle. Malinowski now leads Penn with two triples.

*Kevin Eaise made his third appearance of the season. He pitched three scoreless innings while allowing two hits and striking out a season/career best four batters.

*Peter Matt extended his hit streak to nine games with an RBI double to right field in the fourth inning.

*Four different Penn players tallied more than one hit: Malinowski (5), Josh Hood (4), Matt McGeagh (3), and Phelan (2).

*Four different Quakers drove in two or more RBI: Larsen (4), Phelan (3), McGeagh (3), and Matt O'Neill (2).

*Hood had another successful day at the plate, going 4-5 with two doubles. He is 9-11 in his last two games.

*Christian Walton got his first hit of the season, an RBI single up the right side.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Penn shot out to a 4-0 lead with one out in the top of the first inning. Courtney and Matt walked, then O'Neill was hit by a pitch. Larsen then stepped up and pulled one over the left field wall for his second homer of the season and first grand slam.

The Quakers added on two more runs in the first on an infield error forced by a hard-hit grounder by Courtney allowed Hood and Malinowski to score. Penn took a 7-0 lead in the second as Phelan scored on a passed ball.

Lafayette pulled three runs back in the bottom of the second inning on a pair of singles, but the Quakers extended their lead in the next inning.

Walton and Matt reached base on a pair of walks. Phelan fouled out to deep right field, allowing the two baserunners to advance to second and third. O'Neill then singled up the right side to plate both runners.

The Quakers reached double-digits for the third time in four games in the top of the fourth. Hood led off with a single, then Malinowski followed with a double. McGeagh brought them both home with a single into left field, then scored after Matt hit a double deep into right center to make it 12-3.

Penn continued to add on to its lead in the fifth. Hood beat out the throw from the third baseman to register an infield single. Malinowski hit an RBI triple to right center on the next at bat, then scored on a McGeagh single to center.

Miller retired the side in the bottom of the fifth, striking out two to give him seven on the day after 3.1 shutout innings of relief. He was replaced by Eaise, who continued to keep the Leopards' bats at bay.

Eaise retired the side in order in his first inning of work, struck out two in the following inning, and added another pair of K's in his final inning.

Penn got back on the board in the top of the eighth. Kyle Cronk stepped to plate as a pinch hitter and reached base after taking a pitch to the back. Matt walked on the next at-bat. Phelan stepped up and punished a ball deep over the wall in right center to clean the bags.

The Quakers capped off the day with a pair of runs in the ninth inning. Hood walked to get things going then Malinowski and McGeagh each singled to load the bases. Walton tallied his first RBI of the season with a single into shallow right field. Kyle Cronk grounded into a double play, allowing Malinowski to come home.

Jared Gaer stepped in for his first appearance of the season and retired Lafayette's side in order for Penn's fifth win of the season.

WHAT'S NEXT
Penn looks forward to its home opener this weekend. The Quakers will host Fairleigh Dickinson for a doubleheader at Meiklejohn Stadium with first pitch coming at noon.
