PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Playing on the road for the third time in as many games to start the season, the 12th-ranked University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team was too much for Rutgers to handle on Wednesday night, as the Quakers ran out to a 15-5 victory, moving to 3-0 on the year. Penn boasted seven different goal scorers and controlled possession to the tune of 14 draw controls to eight for the home team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was the Scarlet Knights scoring first following turnovers on each of the team's opening possessions with 25:27 in the first half, but the home team's lead would be short lived.
An apparent goal from
Taylyn Stadler seemed to tie the game, but a late foul was called, wiping away the score for Penn. Penn wouldn't be denied on its next possession however, as
Zoe Belodeau wrapped around behind the goal and took it herself, knotting the game at one.
With two straight draw controls, Penn was dominating time of possession and shots, peppering the Rutgers goal, and it took another four minutes for the Quakers to take the lead as freshman
Michaela McMahon jutted up the middle of the field and connected, giving Penn a 2-1 advantage with 16:54 in the half.
A quick draw control from McMahon regained control for the Quakers and just 15 seconds after her last goal, the Quakers scored again, this time on a feed from Rosenzweig to
Laura Crawford.
Rutgers would cut the deficit to one on a ball that trickled past the goal line with 13:41 in the period, but that would be the last the home team would sniff the scoreboard in the opening half.
The Quakers would quickly respond with a tally from Bosco, and used stifling defense and one goal each from Rosenzweig and Belodeau to end the half, entering the break up 6-2.
It was all Penn from the opening draw of the second half, as the Quakers scored on their first chance of the period, with Stadler taking it herself to the back of the net.
The run would swell to 10-0 for the Quakers with Rosenzweig, Stadler and Crawford combining for the seven in a row in the second half for Penn. The Quakers controlled the field, earning draw controls or stymieing any chance of a Rutgers attack, forcing the battle into dangerous positions every time on offense.
The Scarlet Knights got three goals late after Penn forced a 29-plus minute scoring drought, but the running clock was in play from the 17:10 until the final horn.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Quakers will host their first contest of the 2019 season on Saturday, March 2, with the game also serving as the Ivy League opener for Penn. Opening draw is slate for 1 p.m. in Franklin Field.
