How it Happened
The Quakers looked to finish their season on a high note against a team they defeat earlier this season on the road. Penn got off to a strong start, taking two of the first three matches. After losing the first game,
Max Reed bounced back to take the next three games and win, 3-1.
David Yacobucci jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead before losing the next two and forcing a fifth. Yacobucci regrouped to take the decider, 11-3 and put Penn up, 2-1.
In the second shift,
Wil Hagen extended the Red and Blue lead as he won via sweep. Freshman
Michael Mehl put Penn one match away from victory with a 3-1 win. Mehl won the opening two games before losing the third. He then took the fourth game, 11-5 to extend the Quaker lead to 4-1.
Rochester made it 4-2 with a win at number two as Aly Abou Eleinen lost just his second match of the season.
At number seven, in the third and final shift, sophomore
Yash Bhargava, clinched the third place finish for the Quakers, winning 3-1. Bhargava took the opening two games, 11-3, 11-9, before falling narrowly in the third, 13-11. The sophomore bounced back to take the fourth 11-9, securing the Penn victory.
