Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 13 Women's Lacrosse Blows By No. 25 Georgetown, 18-6

PHILADELPHIA – 6-0!

No. 13 Penn laid the hammer down in the second half at No. 25 Georgetown, outscoring the Hoyas, 13-2, over the final 30:00 of play in an 18-6 win on The Hilltop.

The Quakers (6-0, 1-0 Ivy) scored on 13 of their 19 shots in the second half to pick up their third Top-25 win of the season.

Freshman Zoe Belodeau broke her own school record for draw controls in a game with 13, eclipsing the 11 she had against Rutgers earlier this season. Her 13 draws controls tied for fourth-most among any player in the country this season and are the third-most all-time in a game by an Ivy League player.

Gabby Rosenzweig (5 goals, 1 assist) and Erin Barry (5 goals) led the offense, Belodeau added a goal and four assists while Alex Condon had two goals and two assists.

Mikaila Cheeseman made 10 saves in goal, including eight in the first half.

Notes To Know
  • Penn is 6-0 for the first time since 2015.
  • Penn's 18 goals scored were the most by Penn against the Hoyas all-time.
  • Penn has scored 18+ goals twice this season, the first time a Penn team has done that since 2012 and just the fifth time in program history.
  • The Quakers held Georgetown scoreless for 18:44 after the Hoyas scored with 3:11 to go in the first half. Penn went on an 8-0 run over that span, turning a 5-4 lead into an 11-4 lead.
  • Mikaila Cheeseman tied her career high with 10 saves.
  • Gabby Rosenzweig tied her career high with five goals.
  • Alex Condon's two goals gave her 96 for her career – tied for No. 10 all-time at Penn.
  • Emily Rogers-Healion had a goal and two assists. She now has 126 career points – tied for No. 13 all-time at Penn. Her 62 career assists are No. 6 all-time at Penn.

How It Happened
The Quakers came out firing, scoring on their very first shot of the game when Rogers-Healion connected on a free position 0:47 into the game. Erin Barry would follow with her first of five goals at the 7:03 mark to give Penn a 2-0 lead.

The Red and Blue did not concede a goal until 12:49 had been played. Emily Ehle would get the Hoyas on the board, but Penn would net the next two to build a 4-1 lead.

It appeared the Hoyas would mount a comeback as Georgetown scored three times in a span of 1:41 to tie the game, 4-4, with 3:11 remaining in the opening period. Penn would answer quickly with a Barry goal off a Rogers-Healion pass with 1:56 remaining to start Penn's 8-0 run that salted the game away.

Four different players scored for Penn in the opening 14:24 of the second half as the Quakers built an 11-4 lead. The key sequence was a three-goal spurt in 1:10 of game play – Barry, Cummings and Rosenzweig each scoring.

After Michael Bruno ended the Penn barrage with a goal with 14:27 to play, Rosenzweig scored again in quick order, answering just 32 seconds later. That goal started a 7-0 Penn run that was only ended by a Hoyas goal with 0:18 to play. Chrissy Corcoran scored her first of the season in Penn's run, and Elyse Decker netted her first career goal on a free position with 2:25 to play.

Penn is back on the road next weekend, heading to Durham to take on No. 21 Duke at noon.
