PHILADELPHIA – Get your toast ready!
The University of Pennsylvania will play its 141st season of collegiate football in 2017 as the back-to-back Ivy League champions search for their 19th Ivy League championship.
The Red and Blue return to Franklin Field to open the 2017 slate on September 16, beginning a five-game home schedule which concludes with the season finale November 18 against Cornell.
The Quakers will return 11 All-Ivy selections for 2017 – most of any Ivy League team – including all six players who earned All-Ivy honors in 2016 on the defensive side of the ball. The defense will be led by first-team All-Ivy selections Louis Vecchio and Mason Williams. On offense, Penn returns Justin Watson – whose 2016 season included a second All-American selection; finalist honors for the Walter Payton Award as FCS Offensive Player of the Year; and his second selection as a finalist for the Bushnell Cup as Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year. He will be joined as a scoring threat for Penn’s offense by fellow first-team All-Ivy selection Tre Solomon, the Ivy League’s leading rusher in 2016.
