PHILADELPHIA - For the fourth-straight week and seventh time this season, University of Pennsylvania women's basketball freshman center
Eleah Parker has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office. The seven Rookie of the Week accolades are the most for a player from Penn since
Sydney Stipanovich won seven in 2013-14.
Parker totaled 24 points on the weekend at Brown and Yale, averaging 12 points per game. The rookie also recorded a total of 17 rebounds in the two games played. Against the Bears, Parker put in another consistent effort, notching her fifth double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds on 9-for-13 shooting. Defensively, Parker helped shut down the league's top offensive team with three blocks and two steals. Against Yale, Parker scored six points and collected seven boards, including three on the offensive end, helping Penn win the battle of the boards and finish with 28 second chance points. Parker ranks third in the Ivy League in FG percentage at .514 and is the league's top freshman scorer (13.1) and rebounder (8.1).
The Quakers are back home this weekend, hosting Dartmouth and Harvard at The Palestra. Penn tips off against the Big Green on Friday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. tip vs. the Crimson the following day.
