Ivy League Release
PHILADELPHIA - For the second-straight week, freshman center
Eleah Parker has earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week accolades after continuing her streak of breakout performances for the University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team. The honor marks the first consecutive Rookie of the Week awards for Penn since
Michelle Nwokedi garnered four straight during the 2014-15 season.
In the week's lone game against Rhode Island, Parker again stuffed the stat sheet while also notching the first double-double of her career in an 84-66 Quaker victory. Offensively, the Charlotte, N.C. native notched 12 points, extending her streak of scoring in double figures to four, while also corralling a new personal best 11 rebounds. The freshman was just as active on the defensive end, swatting two blocks and collecting two steals as part of 23 turnovers forced by the Red and Blue defense.
The Quakers (4-4) return to action for two games to wrap up the calendar year at the NJIT Highlanders Christmas Tournament, first battling the VCU Rams on Thursday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. before facing either the host Highlanders or Long Beach State in Friday's contest.
