Whittaker is the third Penn student-athlete to earn Academic All-America recognition from CSC this year, joining Joey Slackman (football) and Wyatt Henseler (baseball). She is the first CSC Academic All-America from the Penn women's track & field program since Jesse Carlin earned third-team honors in 2008.
Whittaker put together a year for the ages as a senior, highlighted by her earning first-team All-America honors with a fifth-place finish in the 400 at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She then followed that up by finishing sixth in the 400 at the U.S. Olympic Trials and earning a spot on Team USA's women's 4x400 and mixed 4x400 relay squads. Whittaker graduated from Penn holding four individual records and as a part of four record-setting relay teams and made history this past season when she broke Ivy League indoor and outdoor 400 marks that had stood since 1990. In addition, Whittaker was co-recipient of the University's prestigious Association of Alumnae Fathers' Trophy.
